Fake GHD's
How to tell a Fake ghd.
The most easy way to spot a Fake ghd is price! If it is price bellow £79 IT WILL BE A FAKE! ghd is a premium product that is very expensive for retailers to buy so £40-£50-£ 60 ghd's are just impossible!! Another way to tell is offers that are long since finished, like Purple ghd's, gold ghd's, ghd pink kiss, ghd Pure white, ghd Pure black and even ghd summer gift sets from last year! But remember, despite the best efforts of ghd and customs, many fake ghd's make it through to markets, high street salons and even Pubs, so just because your local salon seems to have a bargain, they might have been fooled also or worse be making huge profits from counterfeit ghd's. Ask if they came direct from ghd and if you will get a 2 year warranty, then finally you want a letterheaded reciept which states they are genuine. You will be able to register them on ghd's website when you get home.
Know who you are buying from?
When buying ghd's online the first place to look is the contact us page, no UK address or land line number?? FORGET IT! Not only is this illegal in the UK do you really want an unknown person to get your card details or at best your money with only email to contact if (and when) things go wrong. If there is a contact address and it is in the far east - again FORGERT IT!
Heres a check list:
If you follow the following points it will greatly reduce your chances of being conned by the multitude of fake ghd websites
Is the web site UK based?
Does it have the ghd webcheck link with time and date?
Does it show clear contact details and land line number? (MOST IMPORTANT)
Does the price seem to be half rrp if so its a fake!
Are the goods no longer available in salons (colours pink, purple, black and white are not available anywhere or special offers Precious, Kiss and Gold)
Delivery time, UK based company should offer next day delivery or only be a couple of days to deliver.
General Advice
We cannot overstate the need for "buyer beware" when ordering online or buying from sources that are not known to you or not displaying the official ghd logos and display material. The old saying is best of all - "If it looks to good to be true - It usually is!" Please also be aware that buying a fake ghd is more than just getting a cheap deal. You can be buying a potentially deadly appliance PLUS you are giuving your card details to a criminal in the Far East ...not the best idea?
Website checker
If you are in any doubt about the validity of a website you can type the URL into the ghd website and they will tell you if the site is approved or not.
